I want to build a fixie/ss next, what frames are the best to use without taking out a second mortgage . I'm thinking 60s and early 70s Schwinn???????? Thanks

U can turn any cheap old road bike into a fixie. Craigslist your friend. I got a 70s schwinn and Peugeot for under 60 each. Both complete bikes.

most of those schwinns were big heavy beasts, personally I would look for something euro or japanese to start with that was fairly light..

True! I picked up an old Schwinn Varsity for $20, after I stripped it down to just the F/F it weighed more than most complete cruisers I own.

Finally just gave the heavy thing away: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=38377&p=374938&hilit=yoothgeye#p374938
