figured since wasnt gonna use them , and last owner said they were nasty with rust , so why not strip the original stem and bars to see whats underneath - stem came out fabulous ! it is a wald 314

the bars were a little rough, and coated in 2 layers of primer and 2 layers of flat black paint - had to strip twice

That stem came out looking great. I like the tank idea so far but personally I'm not feeling (yet) the other filler behind the seat. I think It's the different attitude (?) than the tank (vertical vs horizontal).

Before you buy those Schwinn bars take a look here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=77406 (Schwinn bars FS here at RRB).
 
got slightly sidetracked on my panama jack today - added bmx bars, new stem and a panama jack wrap-----

** THIS BIKE WILL EVENTUALLY DROP THE PAINT JOB WITH FLOWERS AND GET MAN BARS - just as soon as my welder and powdercoaters schedules clear enuff to do it .....LOL .....and there is that cash flow thing .....
 
Cool cool. Just remember...you can't do anything "wrong" with a build like this -- it's all about making it suit your taste.

And...I have that exact sprocket AND chainguard. The guard's on my wife's Firestone500, and the sprocket came on my early '70's Vista.
