Fiberglass Panier Durability

I'm thinking about eventually trying to fabricate some fiberglass panier buckets for a bike, as an alternative to the traditional wire baskets. I could also fabricate lids, and put reasonably water-tight hinges on them. One small concern, though...

Does anyone know how well fiberglass bucket paners would hold up to being bounced around on the back of a rat bike?

depends on how thick you make the fiberglass

A lot of motorcycle saddlebags used to be fibreglass, works fine...
