Dumpster diving score!

I can't believe someone would throw this away.

My boss and I saw this yesterday as we were headed to the field to plant corn. Look at the bars on this thing!

It's a Huffy Slingshot. The missus was stoked when she saw it.

The only reason I think someone threw it away was because the chain was off. We put it back on and the thing rides like a dream. The wheels need repacked and the sissybar for the seat is missing, but other than that the bike is marvelous.

Oh, the lens for the light is broken, and I'm not sure it works either, but that's all that's wrong. I was happy that the tires held air.

Does it have the spring in between the forks?

Here's a better picture of the front end. Where's the spring supposed to go, in that space between the fender mount and the neck?

Yeah, the sissy bar's gone. Makes riding it an experience. But, I know a guy who, you know, is good with tools. I think I'll have him make a tall one for it.

Yeah there should be a spring in between the forks above the fender. You can kind of see it here in the one I had

Oh Gawd!

One of the first bikes that "I" bought was a Huffy Rail 5. This one brings back many memories! Very nice find.

That is an awesome find....I'm never too proud to go head first into a dumpster. If I say anything that remotely looks like a bike part, I'm goin' in!
