where the lines are drawn...

It's funny though (just my observation from this summer's riding):

While riding my Ratfink or one of the 20" Schwinns:

Most anyone on crusers or even lowriders (not may of either in Calgary)
would wave, thumbs up or stop and talk.

Hard core Mountain bikes (ie down hill racers and 'Trials' dudes) often flagged me down to ask about the bikes. Very Friendly to the freak.

Only twice did roadies ask me about the 'strange' bikes, both times it was fine looking young girls, but I'm quite sure they were not after my body :? One loved the color of the classic schwinn, I explained 'purple' ment something diffrent in the '60 than today.

This pole is in no way scientific...

AHHHHH YES, The Lycra crowd.....
Last year (when I rode more) I could hang on our local "training ride" with the roadies on my 48x14 Single Speed Surly Mountain Bike (with slicks).
They HATED it!
Looking over at 27-28 miles an hour to see a Mountain biker next to them, priceless.
How dare a Mtb'er join this skinny tired crowd?!
To add insult to injury, I was sporting the "one f*#@&ing speed" decal on the down tubes. Oh, the looks I got at the stop lights, HA HA HA HA
The "visor" on the helmet was a no-no issue too.

I need to get back in shape and start that again, that was fun!
