Hey gang--

Do any of you have any advice on cork grips?
Coat them with shellac? Will they lose that soft feel if you do?
Hairspray and WD-40 don't work so I found people use Household Hogar by GOOP. Any other options?

You could try some Birkenstock Cork Life treatment used for the sandalls. It paints on with a little brush in the lid and dries clear. It kind of has a rubber feel to it, but not too sticky . and it is non toxic.

After a failed first attempt to attach the grips I wrapped the bars with athletic tape (where the grips would be) then applied the household hogar. everything is kosher now.

Talked to an old mechanic at the LBS and he didn't think the grips needed any kind of treatment.

I've seen guys use wood stain and shellac--not sure what that would do to the feel, but it seems fun.
