Converting Nexus shifter to Sturmey Archer?

Has anyone converted the Nexus grip shifter like on the Electras' to an older Sturmey Archer trigger setup ? Will it work?

I used a Shimano 333 on a new SA 3 speed. The SA had the same twist shifter as my Nexus 3 speed on another bike. Sometimes you need to fiddle a bit. I bet it'll work.
