I spent Christmas in Colombia with my wifes family.
I liked the country, but loved it once I saw what happens every sunday.

Every city in the country closes all major roads inside city limits and
allows only bikes, pedestrians and skaters to use these major roadways.

These pictures were taken in Bogota on Sunday, but this happens all
over the country. These pics were taken at 7 am, by 2 pm it looked
like Critical Mass.

As well as the street vender variety.

My wife Is from Mexico and she said they do it in Monterrey on Sunday Too. Its because the shops are closed and in the downtown are there arent any parks. She said all the street vendors come out too.

I read about a city in the US that does it too. I will find the bookmark at work tomorrow.

Looks like a good idea AND a good time.

We dont have cool stuff like that around here.

I spent six weeks in Bogota a few years ago and saw the same thing. They had a fair amount of racing going on too. But with altitude and the airl pollution at the time it was tough to run or bike too far in the city.
