Re: Basman ebony & ivory

I bought these chains like this, painted and all. Only to find out the paint on the inner chainlink rings is gone after 2 kms. You can see the paintbits on the sprocket and cranck. Never mind the obvious, I think it still looks cool. I just hope it stays cool for a few years, without chipping and weathering on the outside...these chains ain't cheap. I only needed chain #2 for 20 links or so.

This are very nice chains.
I don't know if it matters how you put these chains on.
But when i should put it on my bike.
I would put it the other way, because i like the smooth look on the outside more.

I couldn't find a better pic.

Re: Basman ebony & ivory

I tried both sides up before I closed the link. What made me decide like I did was, the front sprocket + chain look like a chainsaw now  ready to cut some air

Thanks for showing me Jack.

Been eyeballing my Basman for a while now, and decided not to checker the fenders, too much going on if I did.
Instead I used just a small piece on a more subtle place:

Might be a simple racing decal, but it just added 5 mph to my topspeed

That chain is on wrong. 1/2 links are designed to give better wheel placement options on BMX bikes with short dropouts and small gears (25/9 etc.) The curved part is supposed to fit the shape of the sprocket and the flat side is flat so that it doesn't hang up on grinds. The kind of riding you do on a cruiser it's probably not the end of the world to leave it like that. I'd flip it around the right way though.

I hear ya, Rhalf from Chopperdome also pointed out the round side gives better placement on the sprocket, but everything is perfectly lined out, I have no problems there. I prefer this look for now, but might change it round while I take the forks apart for powdercoating soon.

Seatpost shortened, something had to give. Got the seat forward by a good 2" and it's not hitting the fender anymore:

Took it for a spin near Corus, great weather today:

I'm really liking this Lepperseat, brilliant suspension, new fave seat 8)

Finally found the headlight I was looking for !
Thanks to some examples on this site I managed to convert the thing to LED today (electricity and I usually don't conduct very well, so thanks guys!), and fabbed a bracket. All thats left is to tap some thread in the tripple tree, get an on/off switch and mount it, and paint the bracket black.

Just by shere luck the 28-led bundle from a flashlight fits like a glove inside the housing :D

Testfit, it's only balancing on thin air here:

I'm liking it already ! 8)

Thanks Rickster ! I've really fallen in love with this bike  and it keeps getting better.
Got my forks and seatpost back from the powdercoater yesterday, and I totally love the way it looks !

Here's the before shot as a reminder:

First I had to finish connecting the headlightbracket:

Previously I wanted two Nirve headlights, but after putting one on my Ghostrider I soon found them to be a bit flimsy.
This one turned out to be far superior imho, fits perfectly, I dig the clean look a lot.
(and yes, bracket will be black as well)

After that it was just connecting the dots:

Nearly finished ! At least it's finished enough for FBI in a few weeks 8) what do you think ?
