long beach, so cal
i know you guys dont like to run chain guards but id rather not be pumping and than all of a sudden eat it hard. so im planning on building up some kind of bmx bike and of course i will not run a normal chainguard but i was wondering if bash guards work like chainguards. thanks :D

yea, the ones that go over the front chain ring will keep your jeans from getting hung up....
but the one that goes under the frame to protect the chain wont
wasnt sure the one you were talkin about

I have bashguads on 3 of my MTB's and when I wear jeans I sometimes get caught up, they are all over the chainring style 2 of them are e.13 and one is off a Shimano Saint crankset.

They are better than having nothing. If you wear pretty baggy pants, they'll get caught up once and a while. SKS makes modern chainguards for bikes with front derailleurs. I have one awating installation on a project bike.

Remember My Three Sons, the TV show?

They had an artist do a drawing during the opening theme song, it was drawn as you watched. It drew the youngest son, Ernie, with one pant leg rolled up for bike riding.

I just found it on youtube.

What kind of cranks are you gonna be riding? If its a bmx look at your lbs down on Boadway pst lbb on your left side is Long Beach bikes. He should have a metal bashguard for you,or if your running a 4 bolt mountain bike chain ring it should be even easier.truvativ has one that they usually run on the Hussefelt crank, and you can get em pretty cheap.i think mine was only $20 bucks.
