anyone know if there is metallic maroon/dark red spray paint

does the silver base coat make a difference??? isnt the red flake and color just gonna cover it up

Base coats DO make a difference. A silver base will give a brighter, colder look, while a gold base will warm the color. A darker base will accent the metallic nature of the paint, but will deepen the color. In an effort to deepen candy red paintjobs in the '60s, it was sometimes sprayed over an apple green base... making it a duller red until direct sunlight shone on it, and those sections would gleam true red.

would like to use the metal speck rattle cans to paint my schwinn....would like a nice red......i guess i can do the silver base and red

I used some Krylon gloss clear. I let my last coat of color tack up for 10 minutes and then spray light coats of it. Usually about 1.5 cans.
