Here is my new build. MplsCoaster's Spaceliner build is the inspiration for this.

I don't have any before pictures, but my frame had dull yellowed factory clear like most of them do. I stripped it off and polished it up today, looks amazing.

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS

That is going to be a beautiful combination there.
Good luck!!!!!

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS

Dig It!!!

Love Spaceliners! I'm doing one too! Not this good though. I have mine with almost all the clear off but there is some rust that yours doesn't seem to have. Well done getting that thing polished! I know it's a bunch of work!

Here's an update:

Didn't like the bars I bought, or any that I have still. Rear hub seems to have problems right out of the box, waiting to hear back from Sturmey Archer about that. Tires were the perfect size, 38c. Fills up the frame and fork perfectly.

More to come

looking good!!! This will be a fantastic riding bike with those wheels!!

I can't pick bars either.

Thanks man. I rode it down the block twice but with the noise in the rear hub I stopped.

I just ordered some velo orange no rise bars for it, should fit the look I'm going for.

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS - 8/15

WOW!!! That is looking killer!
It's amazing how versatile the stying on the liners is.

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS - 8/15

Dude, I honored but you've already ratcheted it up a notch or two :D 8)
The red 43 mm rims/chain and black hubs really make it pop and the frame came out super nice
What kind of 38s are they? Are you going with the Velo-Orange Belleville?

I've had to rebuild almost every new coaster hub I've bought
Once you get it sorted, it will be a fast machine!
Hope you can "take on" some roadies with yours too :D

Thanks man!

The tires are Kenda Qwest. I got them off amazon.

Yes I think those were the bars

The hub had grease oozing out so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm hesitant to open it up

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS - 8/15

Dang! That looks awesome! Looks fast, need some low fast bars for it!

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS - 8/19

NICE! I think the red chain highlights the cool dropouts.

(Had to make sure there was a pic on the 2nd page  )

I agree, I hope they'll get you sorted so you can get riding
BTW: I see you used some modern cranks/chainring. What did you do for your bottom Bracket?

Thanks! It was worth the extra few bucks 8)

Here's the chain, its a heavy duty piece: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AT ... 01_s00_i01

I used this bottom bracket:

The bearing cups that came with it didn't fit the bearings that came with it. Go figure. Luckily I found a pair in my parts bin that worked.

Sturmey already sent me a complete set of new internals, it will be here Friday. They sent diagrams to swap it so I might pull mine apart tonight and take a look at it.

Re: '64 Spaceliner SS - 8/19

Wow, nice service from Sturmey Archer huh? I've been wanting a set of the bare aluminum Deep V coaster wheels for a long time. $$$
