Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

dont really know if that changes the value but still pretty kool discovery, que no?

Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

the badges usually said SPITFIRE on them instead of schwinn, not always but sometimes. if youve got a hornet those canti style frames didnt start until 57, prior years were straightbar bikes. could be a Streamliner with a guard swap maybe if it is a 52 ???

Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

Schwinn didn't come out with middleweights until '54 so the bike is not a '52. It has a serial number in the repeat range probably. It's more like a late 50's and since it's a cantilever frame it's probably one of the last years of the Hornet. Nice bike! Gary

Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

thanks for the feed back guys, but im honestly much more confused now  :?
the guy i bought from on ebay had it listed as a 60s spitfire? ...?
then i discovered the hornet chaingurad

and heres the serial number #F855365 i looked it up and found it as a '52
it is a middle wieght, has s7 rims, the chain gaurd matches the paint so ima say it is a Hornet

can anyone see what they find with the serial number

thanks,

JUNE 3RD 1958 (schwinn started using 7 digits instead of just 6 in 1958)

1958 MIDDLEWEIGHT cantitanker HORNET :!:

you were right on everything but the year (easy mistake), between all of us bumping heads we can usually get it right eventually

Awe man thats super kool! thanks! where do u look up your codes?

Re: '58 HORNET

i know some of you s said not to touch it but i did a few minor things

painted these aluminum Electra rims primer red and clear coated them, they match the patina of the bike
and wrapped those rims with some vintage black wall balloon tires
also added some repop blk. 50's style Schwinn script grips

needs a headlight, and a few more custimizations keepin it og though

Re: '52 Schwinn Spitfire/correction, HORNET

the latest changes
put an older 3 spring seat and primered the handle bars wich are sporting
repop 50s schwinn grips.
notice the antique dice i made into valve stem caps
-oh yeah, changed the stem

im think next will repaint the rims a cream color and put brick colored tires
