Hey guys. I got a call from a friend of mine the other day about a job at the place he works. It's a welding job and I have to pass a welding test. I think it's the 1G test. Does anybody have any suggestions to help?

Hardest thing about the 1G test is gravity. Gravity is working against you and not for you. Gravity lets the slag flow ahead of the arc on a 1G welding test and if you are not careful, it can cause cold lap and slag inclusions. The best advice for welding is practice. That's how I learned, no books, no lessons, no youtube videos, just plain old get out there and do it practice. There are some good welding tutorials on youtube though.
