We finished this bike today.
Complete bearing repack, new tires & tubes, replaced the bars, brake levers, cables. De gunked the seized drive train.
I've been training a new volunteer at our local bike coop. Hands on instructions on overhauling bikes. This one will probably go to the local RISE program (Reintegration Initiative for Safety and Empowerment). We donate about 50 to 60 bikes each year to them.

RISE was added in early 2015 to the umbrella of Fresh Start Ministries as the mission and vision for both worked well together.
RISE is a secular program which helps guide newly released incarcerated persons toward a bright future by connecting participants with resources and services post-release.
Things such as finding a job, housing, and transportation can be hard to find. With no outside support. RISE offers a welcoming, nonjudgmental place for ex-offenders to come and find the help they need.

Before and after photos. Flat bar conversion to make urban commuting more practicable. We have a dozen of these to do this spring. The new volunteer test rode it and loved it. First time on a friction shift bike. Quite different from his modern Gary Fisher commuter.

I thought of using a taller stem but this bike has the .833 quill size. Easier to use the existing stem than digging in the parts bins.
