Drawing a little inspiration from this 1951 Cadillac Concept Car with another feature I plan to add to VerBoten later.

The other day when I did one of the early mockups I very roughly threw this upside down Hawthorne skirt guard against it for future reference. Obviously I still have to work on placement and marrying it to the Elgin frame. But I really like this. When I found the above picture today, it pulled me in even more.

Most definitely have to make it work

That definitely fits the build.

That fits your build to a T. Would you run it down low, or , I could def see it between the stays set back in the curve towards the drop out. Sort of emulating the placement on the car....

My current thinking is that it would not be above the chainstay. I would place it so that the outside curve was even with the edge of the rim. I would cut off any portion that was above the chainstay.

Maybe you can mount the tank to the fork, behind the seat, or even under the seat.

Naw, the tank is a no go for this build.

Time to work on the seat supports. I figure, if @Jake Sensi can use a boat wheel, then I can use a boat bow rail.

I have the unique Elgin Twin seatpost bracket slid as far back as it goes, but since the 5/8 seatpost only goes in about 2.5" I wanted a little more support. I got some old 7/8 boat bow rail components at my dad's the other day and this is what I came up with.

I even contacted @slowriderz about his 5/8 post while I was mocking this up. Then I remembered that I had this 5/8 to 7/8 post in my stash.

Right size but wrong angle. So I did a little attitude adjustment

Now that it's mocked up I see that it looks a lot like a Basman 356 Seat Post
Just somewhat in reverse.

Good idea bracing the post. I don't think the original mount would take that kind of leverage too kindly.

Yeah, that was my thinking from the start. At first I was working on some sort of flat bar bracing, but this is much cleaner.

Thrift Store Chair Bars - Well I actually have a different set of bars in transit but as I was in the thrift store today, I saw this chair and the gears started turning. So I bought it and cut it up.

The funny thing is these are almost just like the bars I have coming to me. I'll use a different stem though.
