Black Pearl - is a cheap bike I purchased from Italy ebay (170).
She will stay foldable, but will be built for luxury and speed.
I love the easy step thru frame. Made from steel, so easy to weld onto. But a very cheap bike with some nasty parts, a dentists dream.
Only the frame will be used, the guards and shifter/derailleur or not. Maybe a singlespeed.

Black Pearl, will be a slow build.
I still need to order some main parts.
And decide on handlebars etc.

That is a cool starting point, will you be keeping the fat rubber on it?
Yes, not those rims, some wider ones... They are 60mm. And thinking of 16' moped/cross tires.

A few parts on the table. I have 2 front racks, and 2 sets of brakes, one for each build.

I want some of those wide triple tree suspension forks. I don't even have a ride to put them on but want a set like them. Good start.
I was after them for awhile. They were out of stock. But lucky that the red set was a return(they were a sample set) And he found 2 of the black... I scrambled for them, before he sold out again. Hopefully they work with this build, if not , I will place them on another build , and get a cheap set for this... No use wasting air... ;)

Awesome folding bike base to begin with! Really looking forward to your ideas.

And... the Black Pearl ey?

It started being called Black Betty, but to many bikes called that. Black mamba also. Black Velvet or Black vanity came to mind, but black pearl suits it...

A mock up, just using the Mofa saddle and a rack...
A very easy way to convert. But I feel I need something stronger.
My thoughts are to shape and weld a base onto the frame, so it is solid.
But I do have another rack coming, depending how strong it is, I might not need to weld anything.

If thats the case Black Pearl will be pulled and be entered into another Class 1 build-off at a later date.

I love the fat tired folding step thru motiff! I kind of want one to take camping. Should be a fun build. Are you going to electrify it?

This looks like fun! And I'm with @metalchewy , jonesing for those TT air forks! Wow!

On another note, how do you get the cool fonts for your build titles? Mine needs more pizzazz.
If I remember, both forks cost me just under 500 euro💸💸 I still have not even tested them yet. I need to check air etc. The reds will work on that build. Not sure if the Attilas will be used to full extent on this build... But a bike that I found and posted has just come up for sale, and the forks are just normal oil suspension, so if I decide to purchase it, then I will swap them out...
I'm in Lurv:heart::heart::heart:

Parts are getting expensive, or is my addiction more expensive?.:13:

Yes... That's my plan, 1000w rear hub. I have a 48v-72v 50a controller,so battery could be anything between. But I am thinking just a 52v or 60v.

Very cool, that will be fun!

I think the answer is 'hells yeah!!!"

Everyone who hasn't seen it, like me, needs to check out the awesome Indian board track racer build in Funk's signature. It's an amazingly cool bike! Lots of fabrication and great details. Great job Funk and thanks for sharing! :113:
