    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

LBS called and said the fork tube is too short for my frame, none of the headsets they have will work :( Visually, everything looked proper size to me so if it is too short, it must be barely. Is there any way around this or do I have to get another fork?

    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

thanks. I've since found a few around, none yet that are the right size for my situation... any ideas where to find this size? any safety concern using a collar like that? normally, I wouldn't care but this bike will be motorized and my wife and other random people might ride it.

    '65 Cosmic Flyer

I have one from my Strato Flite that looks identical to the one in this thread. The light isn't operable but the lens, I think, is still whole. I guess I'm going to have to check out rewiring it now! If anyone happens to need one, hit me up. There's a chance I might keep this one now, but I'm...

    whats up everyone?

I do xc, downhill would be killer but I don't want to spring for the bike... then have to travel to train. xc is cool since I can just hop on the bike to train.

    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

thanks a lot, I like the ritchey set but how do I know it fits my head tube? on the chain gang site they list the head tube diameter and each headset fits a different size so I thought I needed to fit not only the fork, but the head tube as well.

    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

ok so I need a 1 1/8 headset... anyone know where I can find one that fits my head tube? I liked the black headsets at Chain Gang but I don't see any that fit. Choppersusa has a bunch, but they don't provide sizing details on their site.

Here's the bikes I grabbed recently

$40 for this strato flite: $50 for this meteor flite: found one on CL ,the other a day later on ebay and was psyched because I love the lines on these frames, and they compliment each other. the plan is to motorize and rat out both. the western is for me, the strato is for the wife.

    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

thanks jack, but that is a bit out of the range for this project :) I'm still digesting your cheaper method. I also was just looking at this set: 22.2 x 34 x 27 mm "Cruiser" 34mm inner head tube diam. Fits with 22.2mm stem. For 1" threaded steering tube. (BB 26320) (DM 40-134-18) $10.95...

    forks, headtubes, stems... help plz

socal_jack, I'm running the Felt Jerry Springer fork on this bike (or trying to) which is 1in. That is much larger in diameter than the original fork...why do I need a reducer? The old steering tube is smaller, don't I need an enlarger? :) I know I don't need an enlarger, but I hope that...

    whats up everyone?

I'm pickled. I'm a bit of a bike building noob, but I used to race BMX, currently race MTB, and I even did a bit of freestyling back in the day :) I've just picked up an old meteor flite, and her sister a strato flite. both are in the process of being turned into motorized bikes with a bit of...
