today's projects are......WHEELS!!! and well... more wheels i guess harumph but nonetheless today i began working on the wheels the front wheel i will be using jut need hubs serviced and some truing the rear well.... well , now that's a whole other issue in it's own when i was trying to drill out the coaster brake clamp broke the entire wheel fell apart upon inspection i noticed the hub bolt was stripped and will not tighten down so i am going with plan b the original hub off the bike with black spokes and white hoop of course i will have to have my lbs do this since i have no luck with wheel building so with that being said the wheels are not getting don today off to spoke n things they go ( my lbs great guy very reasonable if anyone in my area needs an lbs i strongly recommend him ) so for now im done tomorrow will be even slower i am doing a bike ride in town and will most likely not want to work on bikes so more updates soon here is the original wheel it cleaned up nicely so option 3 is use this original wheel my plan is mate this...

with this...

and leave the front heel as it sits...
18765095_10210803233975011_1065283341_o.jpg

i am considering a grasshopper slick i found cheap for the rear and possibly a whitewall front but not sure about that just yet more updates soon

well the wheel idea is not going to wok so i will be running the original rear wheel with the white and black one up front im not too worried i did drop te wheel off to get the spokes tightened and have it trued up gonna get the front one trued next then hopefully i can start shooting some color on this thing next week im going to lay down a flat black base ad then i am going to drip wax on it and shoot it with red chrome it should come out great and i will post photos of the process this is an idea i have been toying with and i am going to do it now then hopefully my chai grip idea will work right then then then well you get the point lol more updates soon

got the seat material cut and tank covering and i also found way to extend the sissybay since this sissybar i crap and cheap and uneven i may cut it and add the extension or i may leave it as it is but now i think i figured out how to add the rear rack without butchering it so little progress with 92 degree heat in my shop and only a regular box fan and me being a fat boy it is too hot to work in there so i am going to work outside until the rain comes more updates soon i think another pre paint mockup may be in order shortly to make sure everything is going in order

the tank cover cut just need to make adjustments and attach it i like this red velvet color it's gonna knock it out wth the satin black and red accents i was going to use white wheels with black spokes but now im gearing more towards red wheels with black spokes an blackout hub

DSCF1298.JPG
th seat cover beginning stage rough but i only cut it i will be trimming it and fitting it next
DSCF1299.JPG
the sissybar extension i am working on unsure if i a going to cut it or not but that's not out of the plans yet

Love the grips man!
That tire looks like it says Beastern! Cool build name.

yeah that is a cool name truth be told i did not put much thought into the name of the bike so i may change it that tire is a bmx bike tire actually my lbs guy has them in stock and they are wide and look awesome im thinking one of those in the back and a skinny tire in front but at the moment tires are last priority theres alot of work still needed to be done i already have the adhesive to mount the fabric and a can of paint to see if i like the color i chose it's a flat black and the accents will be either sprayed with chrome or red still kinda undecided on that part however i think i will change the name to beastern i like it

paint idea as of now is shooting the entire bike in flat black then my wife gave me an idea to drip candle wax onto the flat black and then shoot it with a main color. in this case red chrome i was going to leave it flat black but i like this color so i will see what i can do from what i gather the candlewax dripping will give the paint a faux patina look as if it is chipped so we shall see what it looks like then once the paint is all dried i will clearcoat the entire bike i been kinda busy fixing the neighborhoods bicycles ( hate being known in town as " the bike guy on 9th lol th being my street ) it has gotten so bad i went steamy joes my local coffee house and the barista is like hey it's the bike guy on 9th how are you doing today ugh lol but anyways back on the bike here i have 1 can of flat black to do up the seat pan so i will be doing that once it stops raining and it is dry enough to let the paint cure and not be sticky then spray adhesive for the pad and cover i am still going to try and do a button tufted look on it but no promises on that that may prove to be beyond my cranial capacity ( i am already overheating my wee brain for using that word cranial capacity ) but we shall see what i come up with will post progress pictures soon

got the seat recovered i sill have to do some trim work and put a second pan underneath it this seat originally had cardboard for a secondary pan so i will be using sheet metal
19047375_105901660014680_1346674512_o.jpg

bottom looks like crap but i will be fixing it up trimming it and adding the secondary pan
18986654_105901666681346_169170624_o.jpg

i think this is the most horrendous paint job i ever done! bubbles runs and just god awful so i will be stripping the paint off and trying again NEVER use rustoleum form Walmart that paint is terrible i had better luck with the cheap 96 cent cans which is what i will be using the next time i admit i am sure it was human error and idiocy as to why it came out as it did but definitely going to have to redo it i added a second coat to see if it will look better results will be in soon

got the tank covered as well but it needs to be redone so next step is stripping the paint down if the second coat made it look better i may just roll with it not too concerned about it as long as it looks good the secondary color is going to be red but i am going to drip candle wax all over the frame and fork anyways so i may just leave it i am trying to get a well beaten well worn new paint job look so i guess some runs and bubbles are ok i will just try to add the wax over them we shall see what i am going to d more updates soon

well some more pre assembly and test fitting the rear wheel is just a roller and will not be being used but the flame tread tire may be used on the front i am unsure just yet here is what i got so far i have to figure out how to address the seat being so forward i may put a layback post on it to bring it back we will see here is the current progress i a going to work on the chain grips before i tear it all down and make sure their gonna work
DSCF1341.JPG

Gonna be a fun ride.

well got the tank covered and my chain grips are beginning to take shape pre assembly is just about done then tear it all down and finish the paint and get the seat situated and and and bah you get it lot of work to do but its coming along
19024482_107711573167022_929495125_o.jpg
still some trimming and mounting to do for the tank but the look is there im really digging it i am thinking of possibly adding some metal to the sides or maybe some wood tape but i am not really sure it will look good i still have to make a mount for the tank as well i was not feeling this wheel but i kinda like it but i wills tick with plan a for wheels but not so sure the white is going to work well i may end up using the black wheels

19024561_107711559833690_1445089871_o.jpg
ahhh chain grip their a working i still have to finish them but this is the way to go with it the old grips underneath give the chain grips bite once their finished you will not be able to see the grips underneath i also need to make that tank face look better for sure but i got plenty of time for tweaking it

man this build has really changed it went from this

to this
19024561_107711559833690_1445089871_o.jpg

and all in between and still not done yet i am not trying to pet myself on the shoulder but this one is really coming along well and it is one of my better builds i done i tried a lot of different ideas i been contemplating with this one and alot of new designs i been playing in my head so this build is more about me expanding my horizons on build ideas and not just slapping a few bolts on and calling it done the chain grips the felt tank cover the banana seat all ideas i been wanting to try and now seeing them come together makes me very happy and feel accomplished and gives me motivation to finish it still alot to do but so much has already been done to this thing

Just a quick thought...
While you had the seat apart, could you have moved the mount forward a bit? I always look at things like that being long legged.

Carl.

yes there is a hole in front of it i actually am considering that idea the seat most definitely needs to be readjusted or a layback post or even both would be better we shall see the adhesive i used on the seat cover is not very hard to remove so removing he cover is not out of the question i may try that

so after more researching i discovered the tire i want is called eastern squealer i really need to get one of these tires so this builds name makes sense i scored a pair of v monster tires at a yard sale for free they resemble the old school snake belly gum walls i may run one on the front or i may use the flame tread on the front and the squealer on the back or i may go all in and run 2 squealers dare i go overboard? we shall see i got a little tied up today with a yard sale for the Cowley county humane society yard sale which is where i scored the tires free was a perfect price and i got a tube in one of them i actually talked to the guy that donated them he said one is brand new the other has a couple hundred miles on it and the tube is good so im OK with them tomorrow i am going to do some more work on it i also got my candles for the candle wax drip paint job but first i have to sand off all the crap and redo this paint job and then i can shoot the red chrome on it so tearing it all down yet again is going to have to happen but i was planning on that anyways more updates/pics tomorrow

well here is one of the freebie tires i scored it works with the white wheel, but i am not feeling it for this build it just seems to throw the entire build off but nonetheless let,s mount it and see what it looks like moving on...

tire is now mounted and inflated these tires have a recommended psi of 85-100 but i put 65 psi in it and its plenty hard i may try to inflate it to at least 85 but by foot pump this is a lot of work
19095877_111203776151135_1185401102_o.jpg

nope uh uh no way i hate it on the bike not going to work so this tire is coming off
