The first bike I ever built was a 56 WF X-53, Murray made. I think there was another maker along with them and CWC. Most of the 60's and 70's WFs look like Murray frames.

Western Flyer, sold through Western Auto parts stores, was initially built by CWC and some Shelby as well. Later on, most were built by Murray and Huffy. I even had a 67' Western Flyer 3speed made in England by Royce Union or Hercules, to offer a "light weight" 3speed in their line up. And oddly enough, I have a 61' J.C. Higgins cruiser that is built by Huffy with a "W" serial number, which usually signified Western Auto.
