Schwinn Headtube Bearing Set

After removing the top and bottom bearings, the top one fell apart. So my question is, does anyone have the Schwinn code # for the bearing set. I believe one of them is a Schwinn 2557. The other, is a Wald, I believe, but not a Schwinn. Any information is greatly appreciated. The frame I'm working on is a 62 Schwinn Typhoon, 20" Thanks

They had two different Schwinn head set types that I know of. I don't know what's "correct" for your '62, but here's a pic of the Schwinn-specific bearing type that I know about. They are flatter than a typical Wald cage.

I think the bottom one was a little bigger. Is that right?

Depends on your type I believe. I have the top one on my daughter's Fair Lady.

The Schwinn headset bearings are the same size top and bottom.

Thanks!!!' I have the bottom one. The bearing are slightly different. Everywhere I looked I kept seeing just the top one. Thanks again.

I think you're right. The bearings are the same size, but the cages are slightly different.
