I am new to this whole scene and i am still learning all the vocab.

so here are a few of my questions.

What exactly is a "Board Tracker" and what is the history behind the name?

Is there any standard sized headtubes for the forks on these old bikes?

where can i buy brick red tires and in what sizes?

Is there any other words of wisdom i should know?

Please feel free to add any other questions to this thread

Thanks

Hello and welcome!

I think that a board tracker is an old school motorcycle(or car) you used to race on a race track made of wood, kind of like a Nascar track, you can read about it at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_track_racing

I don't know where to buy red tires cus I dont live in the US...

Just do whatever you think looks great with your bikes!

Welcome! On the red tire thingy, just about any of your local bike stores should be able to get them for you. They may not have them instock, but they can order them for you. If they say they can't then they don't want "ANY" of you business. A good LBS will try to help you with everything that you need of aleast point you in the right direction.

Here are a few that we recommend over on the reakBike sight:

Good luck on your builds,

Good Deal, another Board Tracker fan on here!

GT,I think Coker Tire offers red Goodrich bike tires.

Wow, thanks for all the info. those tracks are ridiculous. The bikes are almost on their sides.
You think you know about a lot of stuff, then you run across stuff like this and it is like you feel like you are from a different planet. I guess I have some reading to do. So much for getting work done today.

I did a couple searches for Board Trackers yesterday and all I came up with was software for tracking online forum boards.

Another question I have is about tire sizes. I just learned about the difference between a schwinn tubular 26" tire and a standard 26" tire. Do all the old bikes have goofy size differences like this or it it just a schwinn thing?

Hey Tiki,I dont beleive I've seen your Board Tracker on here before... I'm LIKING IT!
