jc higgins bike frame help

My buddy just bought this girls j c higgins frame at a yard sale he was wanting to know the year and maybe a picture of a restored or original one. The frame looks like its molded kinda at all the joints but its all factory metal really cool dont look like the bike frames im used to with brazed joints.

It is an Elgin, which is what they called JC Higgins bikes made before WWII. The bent seat post is a clue to the year, but I can't remember what years it was made. I'm sure somone does and they will chime in.

It is badged as a jc higgins tho maybe its not the right headbadge?

It is possible they were using up left over Elgin parts after the war and put the Higgins badge on it. I have heard of that happening before.

J.C. Higgins was just a brand name Sears applied to lots of products. At one point or another Sears procured bicycles from virtually every single U.S. manufacturer there was.

Yeah that would have been from the earlier Elgin years. The bent seat tube was made in 40-41 and then leftovers trickled out in the following couple of years.

The BB should be stamped with 'MOS-' and a letter at the end which dates the year. 1946 would be K. -Adam
