I just got back from an eight day stay in the country of Haiti. We were in Cap Haitian which looks alot like an enormous refugee camp in the middle of a beautiful island. The bikes...blew me away, they have the most beat up chopped up jerry rigged bikes I have ever seen. I think that when the one they are riding finally craps out, they let it drop...walk over to one that looks o.k. and no one is around and away they go. wobbly wheels, broken spokes, stick for a pedal, you name it. I'll post some pics when I can. I am truly humbled when I realize how blessed a country we are and to know that when I need a tube, it's only 4.99 out of my pocket at the lbs. I won't go on but I am a changed person. I also saw some wicked craftmenship with rebar carry racks. It is possible to carry three people on a bike!
