with my cruiser almost finished I'm starting to think about a new build, and I'd like it to be a boardtrack ebike. does anyone know what kind of motor would let me to 50km/h and what the best battery to get would be?
anyone know anything about electric motors?

You will need something north of 1000 watts to achieve that speed sans pedalling. Look at some of the kits on http://www.cyclone-tw.com
Here is a complete ebike advertised as being capable of 50kph. It runs 48 volts and 2500 watts. It is a dual suspension mountain bike. With a lighter, hard tail frame and street tires, you could achieve that speed with fewer watts.

I bought this bike complete less batteries off ebay for $300.00 shipped and 3 12 amH SLA BATTIERIES FOR $70.00 36v CHARGER 14.95 I have about 100 miles on her , I ride about 4 to 6 miles before charging. I could probley go farther but I worry about battery life. I ride at 13.5 to 15 mph and peddle most of the time to assist batt. (very little effort.) I know it is limited and kinda old school by today’s standards but… I love to ride this thing
here is a tool that will help you answer your questions. it is known as the simulator http://www.ebikes.ca/simulator/ offered by ebikes.ca of Vancouver BC . There is a drop down menu to select motors,batteries,wheel size, and controllers by amp rating and simulate the speed at 100% throttle,or less. For basic information on selecting components click on the header "store", then conversion kits where the pros and cons of a gear hub motor are described for the eZee, and the pros and cons of a direct drive motor are described for the Nine Continent.Same info is there for the batteries that they sell. search http://www.endless-sphere.com for info on LiFePo4 batteries.Select a vendor that offers technical support and warranty service.
