41-42 elgin price check?

Hey guys

The girlfriends dad sent me a pic of a 41-42 Elgin that his friend has hanging in his coffee shop and thinking of selling. What are they worth? It's totally complete looks to have been repainted/restored at some point. It's red and white has the tank, rack etc.

I have paid 300 for just a frame... and 400 for whole bikes.. just depends.. end of the day they are only worth what
someone will pay you for them... but without pics.. hard guess...

It's a pretty bike, but this thread won't go anywhere until the owner throws out the first price.

The tank is a Westfield pattern tank (probably one of the inexpensive repop versions that clog eBay) and is not correct for the bike which was produced by rival Murray-Ohio. Still some value in the bike but a correct tank will likely cost $100 to $200.

No, This is a quicky resto where the builder used what was easily available rather than chasing down the "factory correct original" part. It is analogous to a Mustang restored with a Camaro door, it sort of fills the hole but it's not factory and doesn't really doesn't fit all that well.
