I want to do a 26" bmx build, but dont have a frame. I was thinking I could use an 80's mountain bike frame but dont know enough about them to know what to look for. a cruiser frame might work too . I would like to see what you guys would suggest. Photos of frames would be appreciated too.

thanks,

Jason

i'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow. i have a gt mountain bike i thought looked like a big bmx bike, so that's what i plan to do with it. it's a low priorty though, so i haven't messed with it much.

not sure how sharp the pic is, but the frame says gt outpost. i only got it 'cause it was cheap and it looked like a big bmx bike (which i feel is sound and well thought out reasoning).

but like i said, it's a low priority so it'll get built as i luck onto parts and come up with ideas.

There's a variety of ways you can go, I used a fairly recent Redline MTB frame for this. Just depends if you want the more moden looking BMXish build or old school.

I sold bikejunkie a Kona Humu frame and he made one out of that.

Here's my 84 GT Timberline. Not easy to find, but they show up every now and again.

I removed the front derailleur and added the Skull Skates BMX cruiser bars and AME Tri grips.
