This is what she looked like when I bought it. It was very original aside from the ape hanger handlebars. It had a really strange to me brake setup that went through the rear hub vs. a caliper type setup... The next post will be what it looks like at the moment although it's still a work in progress...

Still gathering my bearings on what I'll do for brakes, still need to replace the headset, and still need to trim down the steerer tube... I'll update when I finish it up...

Those are some nice bits, love the piston stem and super wiiiide bard. Quick question about the fork, is it reversed? The axle is usually ahead of the fork.
I also spied a lil BMX in the back of the garage there, is that a GT?

The cable going into the original hub is a Bendix manual 2-speed with a coaster brake, one of my favorite hubs

idiotboy, the username does not fit as you are correct sir .... When I read the word Bendix in your post it rang a bell as far as me seeing that somewhere on the bike when I got it. Sure enough I found it... Pics attached...

Update... Replaced the headset and trimmed down the steerer tube, just need to figure something out for brakes... I'm leaning towards a front brake only setup with the lever on the right hand grip side unless someone has done that and regretted it.... That's a 59 Apache the pics were taken in front of, wish it was mine...
