I've been searching on the net, but can't figure out what year and where my new to me Schwinn was made. The serial number on the rear dropout is L522821. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I tried flipping the frame and it looks pretty cool. It's just a little late in the game for me to make that change. Maybe after a few months :wink: .

Those are great ideas. I guess I can just modify it year after year as he grows. Here's some pics of the painting process. I've only got a few days left.

I plan on sharing my love for bikes with my grandson, starting with his first Christmas and his first Rat Rod bike. Disassembled and taped up. I went with some more aggressive wheels (lawnmower) and some beefier axles. I'm going for a menacing tractor/mountainbike look.

I'm building this for my grandson. Would it be eligible for the buildoff ? It's kind of a bike.

Re: My New Alumacruiser I made some new addition to my bike. I put on some shorty fenders which took some alterations due to the 3" tires. The chainguard I got from Double Nickle. It was in good shape but I sanded it, painted it with Rustoleum black lacquer and then tried my hand at wet sanding...

This is my first attempt at building a bike. I started with a 4 dollar beach cruiser and by the the end only used the crank off of the original bike. I strayed away from the original plan to build a rat bike but I'm still pretty pleased with the results.
