Thanks that would make sense about the hub

Anybody know anything about these? It's a 3 speed sturmey archer, stamped "56" on the hub. It's my dad's old bike kept telling me it's an English racer. He believes he got it when he was 11 so that would have been 1960. Excited to clean it up and ride it!

Visited my parents over the weekend and asked my dad "hey whatever happened to my schwinn..." the good news is I was able to bring it home and will fix it up for my son (he's only 14 months right now so I have some time) the bad news is I'll need 20 cans of oven cleaner to remove all the spray...

But for now this is it.....

It's in great shape, I can't wait to start tearing it apart....I mean customizing it to my liking haha
