    BLACK ape hangers??

I've got a set of the Nirve chrome super apes on my cruiser. I got them about a year ago from Amazon for $30 with free shipping. I really like the riding position they give me. There is slight but noticeable flex (not surprising at all given the height) and I try not to pull myself up on them...

    from a 10 speed to a 5 speed, should I do it?

Go for it! I have a 10-speed 70's Schwinn Suburban that's my beater/trailer towing bike. I've had it for a couple years now and I don't think I've used the large chainring more than a handful of times, so I'm planning on ditching the front derailleur, just never gotten around to it. I'd...

What tool do you use for paint stripping?

I like it! I say throw some clear on there and call it good.

What tool do you use for paint stripping?

I've used it on furniture, but as far as bikes go, only ever used it for taking the factory paint off one bike frame (70's Schwinn - the paint was still in pretty good shape where it wasn't chipped), so this is nothing but a slightly educated guess, but I'd think if you were careful and moved...

What tool do you use for paint stripping?

I've had good luck with Citristrip. It's a citrus-based stripper that's available at most big-box home improvement stores. I'm not sure how it compares to aircraft stripper, but it works fine if you're patient. I found that my results improved a lot with a quick round of 60-grit sanding, then...

    new member, many bikes

That's a very fine stable of rides you've got. Where did you get the seat for your gravity bike? I think that might be the seat I'm looking for, but I haven't seen one with that much of a rise in the back.

    Hello from sunny Minnesota

Hey, I'd like to do that. We've got 2-month-old twins right now, so most of my rides are spur-of-the-moment when both babies are asleep or something, but I bet we can find a time in the next couple weeks.

    Hello from sunny Minnesota

Lake Como is my cruising location of choice. I'm really happy since they're putting in a bike/ped bridge over the train tracks at Lexington, just a few blocks from my home which will tie into the Como Park trail system. I haven't spent much time on the Minneapolis trails, but they're gorgeous.

    Detail painting tutorial?

Here's what I did when I was working on my Speedster (now the Squidster). It works for positive and negative stencils: 1. Design something (I think I used Inkscape [http://inkscape.org/] - it's a free vector graphics program) and print it out 2. Put strips of painter's tape (the wider the...

    Hello from sunny Minnesota

I've been into riding bikes ever since I was a kid, but a combination of moving around for college and grad school and some back and wrist problems (all I had was my early '00s Schwinn MTB at that point) got me out of the biking habit and out of shape. Then I picked up a 3-speed Schwinn...
