    Changing chain ring to 36 T ?

Wait, I'm sorry, I wrote that wrong. I went to a 28T on the front. This may not apply in your situation, but someone else might find the math useful: xxT is the number of teeth on the gear: higher = harder to go up hills. I started with a 1-piece, 46T chainring. Totally standard and common. I...

Howdy. I'm new here, and I brought a Spaceliner.

I'm in! That's actually my dad's birthday, and he hasn't been to any sort of shine n'show since he gave up his own bike (Harley Ultra Classic) a few years ago after deciding that the worst part about "laying down" his ride was, for him, the possibility of breaking one of his TWO artificial hips...

    Changing chain ring to 36 T ?

I just learned that the hard way. After we installed the internal hub, I still needed to bring the gear ratio down a bit. We went to 20 T on the front and I can't get any purchase pedaling at all, even in 3rd, on a descent. I'll be notching back up to 36 T very soon.

Thanks, everyone! I'm really just getting started on the bike, and this is my very first project, so I'm a complete noob at this. But I am my father's daughter, and I'm not scared to use tools, get grease on my jeans and make some loud clanking noise in the basement. Here's the fun unveiling...

New guy from Central Florida - any locals?

Amen to that, Tom! I was born and raised in Cape Canaveral, and if the salt spray doesn't get you (and your paint and chrome), love bug season will. I was home in Cocoa Beach for the holidays, and the first thing I did was ride my bike down A1A from 520 to Minuteman for a drink with my mom at...

Hey, everyone! First, i have to say thank you to all of you who have posted your knowledge and advice here. I've been reading this forum for a while, and I've learned a ton about my bike and I've found incredible inspiration for my resto/customization project. More importantly, your collective...
