    New guy buys a bike

    I've learned that this bike is probably a 1938 model. Made by Westfield and could have been badged as an Elgin or a Columbia, most likely sold at Sears. I kinda knew on my own that some of the add on's are not original like some of the reflectors with the plastic mounting hardware.

    Thanks folks I'm not sure what bike I just picked up. I have it listed in the ID section and I also posted it on the CABE. Some folks over there are thinking it's pre-war but still not sure what it is.

    I found some numbers stamped under the crank housing. D6 and under that is C16351

    After looking the forum over a bit more I'm wondering if it isn't an Elgin could be a Columbia for all I know though...

    It's been awhile since I was intersted in bikes. I picked this up this afternoon.... what did I buy? Guy advertised it as 1950's but didn't know the brand.... thought it might be a schwinn based on the hole spacing where the nameplate should be but I have no idea if he knows what he is talking...

    Powerplant from MN here. Been into building hot / rat rods for the last 15 years, just looking for something a little different. I have an A&P licence, have worked as a millwright, and now am the safety manager for a electrical utility in our power generation division. Just here to pick up...
