24" Typhoon and a Huffy Eldorado

Yes indeed the serial starts with an 8. Thanks for that info. Here it is after my cleaning and installing some new parts. Still have some work to do but in all this was a just a few nights after work this week to get done.

24" Typhoon and a Huffy Eldorado

Thanks for the input - first Huffy I have picked. I am used to working on Schwinns. My plan for the Huffy is to leave the frame as-is and replace the mechanics. Any tips on that with this frame? The cranks are seized. I was going to see if I could fit the frame with the mechanics from this bike...

24" Typhoon and a Huffy Eldorado

Given to me by a friend, Typhoon just had the seat swapped and the Eldorado is very patina'd. I cannot find any images of this large tank version Eldorado - it must be old. Does anyone have any links or info on when Huffy made the Eldorado?

New Museum Link @ Old Spokes Home Website

The Pugsley is awesome. Little rich for my wallet though. Would be a fun bike to ride.

New Museum Link @ Old Spokes Home Website

Hey I just wanted to post this link. It is my LBS. I always tell people about the place and what a great collection the owner has. Well they posted a museum link so you can check out all the super-old school bikes. Old Spokes Home is in Burlington, Vermont...

    Is this 60s or 70s or 80s ?

Hey man just build it into something cool. Just because it isn't very old doesn't mean it can't be modded. I was looking at a diamondback alum cruiser frame today - prolly 80-90s - no matter.

    65 Typhoon Custom

I used rattle cans. I am actually very surprised at how well it came out. Used self-etching auto primer on bare frame, real light coats. I waited till it was fully dry, then 6 coats of Brown Satin Rustoleum, followed up with Pistachio Krylon for the green sections, hung in near my wood stove to...

Haha well, I live on a mountain in Vermont - can't get any more "wintery" than that.

My LBS - Old Spokes Home in Burlington, VT

That's funny - because I am originally from that area (Schaumburg). You have lots of Schwinn's out there since they were made in Chicago. I miss the Chicago area sometimes - have lots of family there.

Just wanted to send props to Glenn and the guys at my local LBS - Old Spokes Home in Burlington, Vermont. The place is amazing and a rarity - if you ever get a chance to stop by - be sure to visit the upstairs museum of old bikes. http://www.oldspokeshome.com/...

    flake paint

I am super interested in seeing how this turns out. I am ready for clearcoat on my frame in a couple days, it is dark brown. If the flake looks good on black, that will give me an idea of how it might look on brown. Thanks.

    65 Typhoon Custom

I don't know what I am getting into on a headlight yet. But I may take you up on that. With the rims I want to get, I think I am limited to free wheel or coaster. For brakes, I was thinking of doing a v- brake in the rear if I opt for free wheel. For the kind of riding I will be doing on this...
