    Very cool looking chainring!

I also really like that green-I think I will eventually paint one of the bikes I got from you a similar green. The seller told me that two others had emailed about it after me-one from Livonia, and one from Plymouth. It wasn't you,was it?

    Vista Rover

Yeah, I got the 'eye' from my wife today when she saw me polishing a new bike-I told her I found it at a yard sale  I really don't have room either, but it was cheap, close, and fairly rare, so into the truck it went.

    Vista Rover

I'm in Canton Twp.-I got it from an older man living a few miles away after I saw it on yesterday's CL-it had a vintage folding child seat on it-all steel, no seat belt. He had a girl's bike he was keeping. Due to medical problems, he couldn't swing his leg over this one any more, but he was sad...

    Vista Rover

here's a CL bike I picked up a few miles from my house for $50 yesterday-it's a 1970 (?) Vista Rover, made by Columbia. There is very little information on the web about these, other than a thread here, and another at Schwinnbikes.com. This one is totally original, right down to the 'Vista'...

I really think it was more a matter of Chrome being declared a strategic material, and it was not available for production of non-essential items like chromed handlebars and such.

    Old & New(er)

A very cool bike. I have a '49 Sport Tourist. By then, it had a 3-speed Sturmey Archer rear hub. It has a Mesinger seat, but the saddle is not that shape. The fenders on mine are long gone, but I have a '41 girl's lightweight Columbia standing by if I really need them.

    Montgomery ward hawthorne year?/type

Same chainguard as my '39-'40 Murray:

That rear rack looks like it came off a '59 Cadillac  I'll keep an eye out for one of them, but I really do like the slim, pointed look of the one on mine. That's a cool reflector on the back of yours, too. And Bankerrat-that's a good-looking Monark, too.

I would just as soon not have them be the correct fenders-I'd rather have chrome ones-the less paint, the better. I have plenty of other bikes I can use those orange fenders on. While we're on the subject, I suppose that rear rack is not the right one either (even though I do like the look of it).

Well, I've been spending money like a drunken sailor , but how can I let this thing go? If I get pedalling too fast, it will tell me when I'm in the danger zone

Yeah, it wasn't cheap, but it is exactly what I was looking for-plus I didn't have to drive far to go get it. Now I've got to stop buying bikes, and fix up the ones I already have. This one is already stripped down to the frame.

Ooh-that's what I want this one to look like eventually. Are those painted fenders correct on mine? The orange paint doesn't match the tank and chainguard, although the lower fork leg has the same color on it.

That plate is held on with a "police" embossed metal strap and a 'keeper' that is not supposed to be removed-not sure how I'm going to get it off to refurbish the bike without messing it up. This plate was from back when the police were serious about licencing bicycles. Does any city still do that?

I also posted this over on the CABE, but here is a '56-'57 JC Higgins I picked up from a CL listing yesterday.
