A cruddy Chwinn frame.

Stripped the headset etc. Sanded and painted the fork...Ultra Flat Black.

Next up sand and paint the frame. I am thinking a Ruddy Brown Primer?

Sounds good.....glad to hear you someone is laying more pins.......now I just need to try it myself

Wow, I do not like sanding. I did finish in time to paint the Chwinn before it rained.

I switched up the paint and decided to go with a satin black instead of the Ultra Flat Black.

I used lime on the sprocket gizmo (not really sure of what the tech name is for that)

Primed the gizmo for the handle bars.

I guess the first bike is going to incur more expense than the later ones. I am looking on craigs list for any cheap cruiser so I can grab a seat and some pedals

Today we're going to see an early movie with the kid. Then I get to paint the rims Lime to match the chainring. Am I the only person here who can't wait? I am ready to ride this bike with out any seat or pedals just because I have no patience when it comes to projects. The worst is the humidity is so bad the paint is taking forever to dry.

Yes those are Bontranger Cruizers. I liked them because they are huge. I got them for $17.99 each.

I was able to start assembly today. I haven't done any pinstriping except for the chainring (not too complicated).

I primed and painted the handlebar gizmo and the wheels (thanks Sneeki Tiki for the taping idea, it worked like a charm).

I added some cheap pedals until I find some that work for me.

Just an aside, here are the Taiwanese Lowriders I sell at our Hardware store. There is a 16", 20", and a 26" model.

I got a really squishy seat and a seat post. The paint on the handle bar gizmo is still tacky. I put a fan on it.

Both wheels are painted and drying...slowly.

I can't wait to get this bike in the can so I can start the next one! The anticipation is killing me!!!!

It's almost finished. The chain I have is too short, bummer.

I like the Lime, Black and Red together.

I had some black cork tape I was going to use but the adhesive dried up a couple of decades ago. I guess some contact adhesive might work. I just shoved the old Schwinn grips back on. Maybe I'll get a chain after dinner.

Do you have a close up of the rims? I'm curious how they turned out with taping the spokes and painting the rims? I've always thought you had to take the spokes out to get a clean look when painting.

It worked great. This is the best photo I have. My phone Doesn't have a macro. The hardest part is taping and untaping. I've never laced spokes but I think the tape is easier. there are some smudges from my hands but for a rattle can job it looks pretty good.

I got the chain and handgrips figured out. I need to take out a link and tension it a bit more because it'll fall off on a big bump. My next step is to finish the red and silver pinstriping. I am by no means a pinstriper but I am willing to try. Stay tuned for more pics.

Coming out NICE. I especially like what you did to the chainring. 8)

Briology, if I didn't know you I'd let the air out of your tires.

help... im confused.... it doestnt look like the tape is covering the spoke nipples. am i just seeing things??

The tape goes to the nipples. I just wrapped it tight so the the tape wouldn't get in the way of the paint job. Look at the close up pic, the spokes are still unfinished.
