No trailers! No trailers!! Haulin' a full case of bear and 10 pounds of ice on a bike that ergonomically sucks is not all that exciting! However, the beverage consumption did diminish the pain quite substantially! BUT the chafing! Oh the chafing!
All kidding aside, Joe, thanks for bringing the trailer along on our rides; it has become in and of itself, a sort of mechanical institution!

I hope the chafing has healed, but I'll keep the suggestion about wearing the biking shorts - I wear a pair under my shorts on every ride - they are comfy! :)

Peace buddy

Really looking overconfidently to this ride – emotional buoyancy is helpful in accomplishing a challenge such as this, after-all, we’re going on a 60-mile journey on bicycles originally designed to go no more than a mile or so at a time!

Perhaps you local guys can strategize on providing an itinerary that’ll make available, waypoints for eating and resting. Provisioning could include power bars and Gatorade!

No one will be left behind – we either do it together or we’ll give it another go at a later date – but we’ll do it together.

We can do this!

I think "Pace" will be important and I just found a 44 tooth crank
for my 24" fixed gear klunker (Columbia Torpedo). Half speed away!
If the Rapture hits during the ride ,some will be L..B......Stevil

I kind of want to do this, but I don't at the same time. If I were to ride, I'd bring my Felt El Guapo.

In order to prepare for this ride, I’ve been riding “The Nutcracker” up some hills; this one has been a particularly difficult one to ride up.

I'm pretty sure I'm going. I'm going for the KOM points that day.

yes! In honor of the Tour de France, we should offer a yellow jersey to the strongest rider (first to finish in final sprint), green jersey for most town line sprints, polka dot jersey for best hill climber etc. Or our own silly prizes instead of jerseys. The tour will be close to the end on the day of our ride.

If Nick goes he's a shoe-in for the white jersey (best young rider).

Finishing my 24" fixed gear Columbia this morning and may run it
down the beach this weekend for test run. I'm in and excited
about riding with you NERRbikers:acute:...Stevil

Cool Steve, please, post a pic or two of the bike/ride. :)

Did some riding over the weekend on the “Nutcracker” in preparation for this long ride; pasta loading coupled with riding uphill has increased my endurance, something needed for a ride like this.

Looking forward to riding with you all – perhaps we should take turns in hauling the beer cooler! At least we’ll all be chafed together! :D:D:D

Did a 6-mile sprint today on both hills and flatlands; tired, but recovered quickly... :)

How are you preparing for this ride?

"How are you preparing for this ride?"
I'm sitting here eating a big bowl of Ice Cream

Well, this ride is just a couple of weeks away – this week is also the start of The Tour Day France – inspirational stuff!
