Lol, Ive never done a kids bike but there are lots of little kids that come with their parents to the Shiny Side Up bicycle show in a few weeks. Since it was free Ill probably just strip it and do something very simple and then sell it at the show for like $50 or something. Make a kid happy:grin:

Got a little teaser today, I cut the side panels for the gas tank. Im still not sure if I should make the louvers directly in the side panels, or make a pair of plates with louvers and rivet them to the tank:39: What do you guys think?

That's what I was leaning towards. Only thing is it will be a lot more difficult.... I guess I was just thinking lazy:grin:
 
If the tank panel was a single sheet, I would suggest doing the louvers on separate smaller panels and mounting them with some standoffs as an added dimensional detail. But I think you said that the tank panels are already going to be dimensional, so no standoffs. You could still rivet them on.

The tank will have three bends per side, two at the back to "taper" in the tank, and one at the front for fork clearance. I think ill go with doing the louvers straight in the tank for a cleaner look, also the louvers themselves should give good dimensional detail:grin:

There is nothing cooler than riding a vintage motorcycle. My dad has a barn full of them and one day I'll inherit them, hopefully not for a long time. That Honda Dream is beautiful and the, what looks to be about a mid 1960's R60 BMW, is one of my favorite bikes. Very cool pix, thanks for showing them. I wish I went to that show!!
