Love those wheels, any idea who made them?

They were made by a builder down in Mexico City, Mexico (francbikes on Instagram). I don't know how they ended up stateside.

To me the existing patina-ed red and yellow really looks the part of old time road construction equipment as is.

It's more of a beat up orange, but I can see the tie into road construction. I actually haven't given hardly any thought to finish or color yet.

Mocked up the Ruff saddle tonight. It has potential. I like that it has the "peek-a-boo" skull so that you can see the tire and rack cutout. It has potential. Gonna noodle on it.

I meant to thank @gowjobs for suggesting trying out the Ruff saddle. He also mentions springs for it, so I duct taped some on for visualizing. Not sure on the springs.

I like the Ruff seat, don't like those particular springs. Maybe a clothespin style spring? Or a single center mount spring or bladder?

Or get funky with a leaf spring! Make her float

I agree that this seatpan is much better without springs. No matter what seat I go with, mounting will have to be custom in some shape or form. I'll figure that part out once I decide on the seat.

This tractor / mower seat spring might give me something to build off of with some mods.

Actually, that seat spring could probably work as a base for most any seat I choose to use. I'll take some rough measurements tonight to see if it would work and probably order it on ebay.

Tape measure is a creative touch there...always count on you to measure up with your builds.

Tape measure, packing tape, silver metallic tape, pedals, etc. Whatever it takes to hold things in there approximate location to visualize if the idea is worthy or not. :D Some things never change.

The different seats change up the vibe of the bike, so I mocked up some clubman bars to get another perspective.

Then I remembered that I had this little jet exhaust from the ladies JetFlow that I parted out. So of course I had to try it too.

And the mockups keep on coming!!!!

After sitting on one of the seat mockups, I realized I really need to make sure I can actually pedal this baby without hitting my chin with my knee. So, I place a crank and chainring in there to give some feel for where the pedals would be. I need the seat to be higher and/or farther back. Gotta find that balance between looking good and riding good.

So I broke out some pedals to stack and jack the seat up a little and then further back too.

Lol the parts you take off the thing are enough to build a Winner!

:dance2::dance2:

Any parts I put on or pull off the bike cannot be held against me as be finally on or off the bike in a court of law. I'll try just about everything

I forgot to post this up from yesterday. As you probably noticed, these Elgin Twin Bars don't have a seat tube. Instead they use a special clamp that can actually be slid forward or backward a little to hold a seatpost. The one I had for VerBoten actually bent on one of the first rides after I painted it and had the longspring saddle on it. Yesterday I did some beating on it to get it back in position for mockups. To actually ride on this again, I will need to have my friend weld it up a bit to strengthen it. My seating may go another direction, so I may not even use this. We'll see.

That is one expense seat clamp to replace . I’d get that one welded even if you decide not to use it on this build .

In the "way back" position you could easily utilize that cross brace if you did a leaf spring mount. Would probably need reinforcement, but doable

Now I need dwell on these different configurations and figure out what works and what doesn't.
