And the serial on the BB, up close it looks like there are two faded sets of numbers under the readable one.
3538 then a small off set 2

Any ideas?
 
+1; Snyder-built frame; hard for me to say what it was badged as.... it does appear to actually say "Snyder" on that badge, but i've never seen a Snyder badge. HP Snyder made a lot of bikes for various retailers, and those bikes wore the retailers' badge, and the other frames Snyder made for themselves were pretty much always badged "Rollfast." Still, that's a Snyder-built frame with a badge that says "SNY" on the first half, and the other half has the exact right amount of room for a "DER..."

Seriously though, thanks for the input. I thought the SNY looking thing was just remnants of an attempt to glue a badge on.
I'll have to look closer.
 
It appears that there is some type of adhesive, can make out some small letters.
But the SNY looks to be rusty, so who knows what was there.
 
Googled 1925 Snyder bicycle, and in about 20th picture (4th row) was a link to a 1927 Snyder on an America on the Move website. The badge that they picture has all the same nooks and crannies, but looks to start with an "R" - difficult for me to read.

Perhaps it was the "badge" that was more the rarer and why it was removed.
 
Looks the same shape as the stain on my frame, will do more research.

Makes me wonder if this frame is that old.
 
The top tubes on your frame are a little bit more bowed than that 1927 Snyder in the picture; maybe they called this 1930's streamlining(?).
I saw another bike that looks like yours, dropouts, chain tensioners, rear kickstand holes & stops, seat post cluster, and top tubes - it was a 1939 Westfield (Columbia).

Are one or both of your seat-stays also tweaked a bit; in the picture they look to be straightened, in comparison to the 39 Westfield slightly outwardly bowed seat-stays.

I think you're right, the right seat stay has a bit of a bend to it.
