Although the real bike collectors go to Ann Arbor this weekend, I was in Carlisle, PA for the Spring Carlisle swap meet. Car guys, of course, know about Carlisle - the city hosts a series of swap meet/car shows all season long. Most are brand-specific, but the season opening "Spring" event is non-denominational. Vendors bring out all sorts of stuff. In between the piles of old car parts, though, are a lot of bicycles (and tricycles).
My father & I walked it all Thursday and Friday. I took pictures of 1/3 to 1/2 of the bikes I saw. I can't really say why some compelled me to take a picture and others didn't, although ones with crazy price tags encouraged me to keep walking. I saw a riding condition Apple Krate w/ rear disc brake for $1800, a his/her pair of average, standard Stingrays for $2000, and a restorable Firestone Super Deluxe for $550. None of those were photographed, although I wish I'd shot the Firestone for research purposes. Anyway, here are the pictures.
An Evans with a really wide tank:
A chrome Roadmaster Skylark:
A lady's Columbia ballooner:
A folding adult trike:
Rollfast Space Flyer (was nice but $180 was more than I wanted to spend):
An exercise bike a little different from what you guys normally part out:
An Elgin trike:
