What brands used this curved seat post frame? I have a 41 Elgin but I've seen this frame with other headbadges.

In looking at my Elgin catalog reprint it would appear to be 1941 or later. Earlier had a straight downtube with this type frame.

Took the cover off the seat with crash rail, Columbia name plate and two small springs.

I've started doing some work on this bike. It's torn down and ready for stripping 3 or 4 coats of paint. I've experimented with some color.
It's starting out pretty lame. I ordered a wheelset which FedEx delivered to the wrong address. My address was on the box in three places. Then I find the rear nuts and brake arm hardware is missing.
I ordered Conti Retro Ride tires, 26"x2.2" brown. In mounting them up I find that one of them has 3 cuts/slices in the sidewall.

I guess when America is great again, these little potholes will be gone.

Were the tires loose in the box? Did the box have cuts in it?

That's just incredible if that was done purposely.

Good choice of colors though.

No cuts in box, they were folded. My guess is that the packer/boxer cut them while they were resizing the box as the top of the box had been cut down. From Biketiresdirect.com.

New tire supposedly on the way ETA Friday.
I have the same tire in 1.9" on a middleweight Schwinn. It rides very smooth.

I had the the frame blasted clean by SoftStrip. The Murray frame construction is rougher than the Elgin bike I rebuilt this summer. I did some grinding on the frame to remove some of the roughness. I sealed it up with some primer. It's getting ready to get cold here.

the Elgin? Fork and a newer JC Higgins fork.
