thanks for the welcome! i made the shifter from the original shifter, a piece of pipe and an old glass drawer pull. i drilled and tapped the pipe and shift lever, put 2 bolts through both of them, and ground off the heads. i then welded an nut on the top of the pipe for the knob, then painted it. here are some more pics-
