hello all
thought it might be time to add my latest ride
to the gallery. It started life as a J C Higgins.
I would assume with 26x1.75 tires.
bought the frame, tank, and rack at a swap meet in may
mid july(and completed sept 1)
I started the project of rebuilding her
with a few modifications...
such as…
24x3.0 dyno fireballs
schwinn varsity stem shifters and derailers(gt510)
shimano front freewheel chain ring(52-39) and gear cluster(14-17-20-24-28 )
shimano 70’s disk brakes front and back(front brake is a modified back brake)
shimano hubs laced to 24x1.75 Dino T25 mtb rins
original tank missing light but grill installed
original rear rack
frame is painted red oxide primer
with chrome fenders(from 80’s beach cruiser)
NOS bottle air horn
here it is.........

it's been a fun build.....

P.S. as a note... with the front freewheel the chainring and chain move
the whole time the bike is moving.
even when coasting...
oh say down a hill...

nice!

Yeah baby! Another Space Race bike gone RAT@! and a 10 speed one at that! Looks like some kind of Bonneville LSR bike with Ram Air out front. Those Vintage Shimano disc are very cool, but I know from experience those things are HEAVYWEIGHT material. The shifter placement is perfect! AIRNOS Horn is da bomb! Sweet Build!

are we related ? looking at your bike makes me think we must be cousins
reminds me of the 58 delivery rrbbo

Great build , I like all the details and vintage parts !
Those FF systems are great for the hills , I have it on my Panasonic Roady

that is wild..... All the bells and whistles, like a decked out Caddy.

Nice job with all the modifications.

The fat tires really give it a great look.

Mike's being modest here so I am gonna have to toot the horn. Not only is this bike a smokin' build to look at and a killer rider too, it won the bike show in it's catagory at the Greaserama on Sunday as well. It was a serious contender for the Spokesmen's pick trophy as well, but we had decided that the club's trophy would be awarded to a non-member of the Spokesmen so there would be no hard feelings....and since Mike is a valued member of the Spokemen, it kind of knocked him out of the running unfortunately. Killer bike Mike, and thanks for winning one for the home team.

P.S. Toss up a pick of the kool trophy that you brought home with that beast for us all to see.

Way to go mike, on your winning at the show. I had to leave early so this is the first that I have heard about it. Good job.

since lance brought it up
i'll post a pict of the trophy
