I bought this 1946 J.C. Higgins on ebay for $10 (local P.U. only) a few years ago

Great looking bikes! Have to say I love refurbs for my taste over restoration/repaint also. Nice job!
 
The fact that is was local p.u. along with the broken spokes, frozen hub, pedal and chain kept the price low. I couldn't believe I was the only bidder. Had to drive 30 miles to get it. I wet sanded the fenders with 1000 grit followed by rubing compound to get the satin look. It brought the white in the brackets back pretty good too. Gotta get some tan grips. Thanks.
 
What a real sweetheart she is........Love your ride.....You have done the right thing by doing a refub and not killing it with some weak paint from a store..........Beautiful lines and really is a peice of post-war history........
