1966 Fastback (clean it, ride it)

I picked this complete original Fastback a couple of weeks ago. It is rusty and crusty. No searching for NOS parts. I'll clean up what is on it, replace the tires and tubes, and it will be a survivor rider.
This is one of the mis-stamped frames that was produced, single letter followed by the numbers. I believe it to be a June '66 build based on the crank number being 6.66.

After hitting all of the bolts and nuts with PB Blaster I took it all apart. Nothing broken so far.

I have been busy cleaning and polishing parts all week. I have replaced some of the hardware with better pieces but most of it is just getting cleaned and reused. A couple of reproduction decals will also make it look more complete.
Here the shifter and calipers have been cleaned and serviced.

Although the '66 came with no slick the reproduction tires are at least ride able. The OG's were too rotten. Who wouldn't have added a slik when they were made available anyway? I put an aftermarket spoke protector on it but may just put the cleaned up original back on it.
The rust has also done a number on the chrome.

My method of removing the cassette. I have a pair of needle nose pliers and a crescent wrench and the wife hold the wheel as I back it off.
