His and Hers, Finally got finished photos up.

So I've working really hard to turn my obsession with vintage bicycle's into something I can make money at. And finally my opportunity has arrived, I have been contracted to build a his and hers set of bicycles for a local motorcycle shop owner, if anyone whats to check him out you can find him @rawhidecycles on Instagram. So this is what I'm starting with, a 1957 Schwinn Tornado and a unknown girls skip-tooth.

This 57 has some really nice parts on it.

Alright I broke down both bikes and cleaned all the components with boiling water and dawn, dawn really works wonders on old grease.

So the guy that contracted me to build the bikes does not want the skip-tooth components which is fine with me, but that means I have to switch over to regular cranks and rear wheels on both bikes.

Heres the parts pile for the Tornado so far. I'm thinking bare metal frame keep the blue chain-guard and the black on black wheels with these tires.

The girls bike is a simpler build, found a nice set of chrome wheels with a red-band hub in the rear wheel.

so I've started striping the paint, and I got the year wrong it's actually a 59 not a 57.

Ya I'm planning on matching the boys bike as close as I can to the girls bike, thinking about bare metal leave the chain-guard blue. And I have some nice fenders I took off a 40's girls firestone that are blue with white house paint, I'm going to try taking off the white paint.

Cool. I'd like to do a his n hers with matching sprockets, rims, bars, grips and maybe seats (but a hers springer with a his springer would be cool too...) good fun there...

So the 59 is down to bare metal, and looks awesome .

Got these sweet tires in the mail today, and some cool valve cap covers.

The girls bike is coming back together nicely as well.

So I got the tires in the mail today and they look awesome, but the guy I'm building the bike for dose not like them as much as I do. So I switch them out with some old white walls, the bike still looks sweet.

Are those tires Duros ? I was looking for new tires for a Ross I picked up, saw some color tires like that by Duro in the 26 x 1.50 size I need (all that will clear frame W/O mod). I thought the Red Walls looked cool.

Yes there Duros, they make some of the best vintage style tires I've found.

Too bad the customer didn't like the blue walls....I thought they looked awesome with that bare frame and the blue chain guard! Well, at least you know that now for future builds! That's really cool...the his and hers contract. I hope to generate some biz too now that BACK40 is up and running. Looking forward to your progress reports....
