I started with one of my favorite riders, this 1934 Flyer by Colson. I have had the bike for about 2 1/2 years. It has gone through many different parts in that time since I gave it first shot at most of my new parts. All that time I let it in the paint it wore when I got it. Here it was before I got started this time.
In true Rat Rod spirit the only cash that was spent on the bike was for the paint, DupliColor Silver Metal Specks and pin Stripes by Harry. Everything else on the bike was pulled from my parts bins.
The parts list includes:
1934 Flyer Frame, fork, and truss rods
Repop Coke Bottle Grips and Torrington #10 pedals
1934 Lobdell Double drop "Knife edge" rims laced to a period correct Musselman hub in the rear and a modern High Flange Campy hub up front.
1934 HP Snyder Snowflake sprocket and crank
Brooks B67 saddle mounted on a period correct laid back post
Unity head light
Kenda 26x2.125 blackwalls
1946 Schwinn (one year only) tapered kickstand
Here it is now. Special thanks to the StarLite Drive-In for the photo shoot location.
