My wife is a much better shopper than me
She's been looking at some vintage Aluminum French chain guards
She loves the style but not the price on EBAY

So she found a guy in France that was willing to ship it to the US
She bought it for $17 plus shipping (which wasn't as high as I thought it would be)
She got some french road bike pedals too
It's very cool, and we both love the styling, because it's cast aluminum I think it's especially cool!!

It took a couple of tries to get it here, not sure how far it made it the first time
but He got it back... He put Minneapolis and USA plus zip code but not MN
He mentioned that Mpls must be a "one horse town"
Probably not even one horse in Mpls proper but 387,000 people (2.9 million in the Twin Cites)
None the less, we (no wait.. ) She got it today in the mail

Not sure what it's going on yet but I just learned how to polish aluminum :D
Maybe somebody knows what bikes they were on or what year (my wife might know but I forgot to ask...)
Thanks for looking
Steve

Hey Skipton, thanks for the comp, ID, and funny comment

Scrumberlo, yes, my wife thinks that's what the pedals are Atom,
By the weight of them, they were most of the shipping price, and they are cool
Think they might be french threads though because they won't even start to screw into 9/16" crank

Thanks Dogdart! Trying to find a bike now worthy
Since the Wall of Shame got posted, the planned bike is no longer coming :x :x

Have to check it out a bit more and maybe some kind of action...

But anyways, live and learn, so maybe it might work as a cool combo with the aluminum spocket I just got

And a bike worthy might be my Wife's Spaceliner (after a good polishing)

My Wife says VeloOrange has some hardware available

RatSphinx, glad you got a kick out of his comment
My Wife emailed him about receiving it and would post a link to it installed
He must have wiki'd Mpls because now he is requesting an iconic "Spoon and Cherry" sculpture pic

Hey Scrumblero, your comment peaked my wife's interest
I found "09 78" and "Made in France" on them. She dug through a bunch of web pics

Turns out they are Maillard, and may have been rebuilt with new spindles
The spindles look like they've never been used and the bearings spin super smooth
No Maillard marking though, but the aluminum body and steel edge exactly match the maker
Thanks for pushing us to check it out :D
