who knows columbias???

i saw this at a swap meet yesterday. it turn out i knew the guy sellin' it. i told him i really couldnt come off any money, but if it didnt sell by the end of the day let's talk trade. i ended up trading a rifle for it.
he said he thought is was 1943 or 45. anyone else know??
i havent done any research on it yet.
what will i do w/ it? i dunno.

In it's prime it was probably an upper end Columbia if that's an original drum brake on the front. Just missing a rack. Have fun!

The forward facing rear dropouts (gotta look closely) and the springer ID it as a postwar bike. ~Adam

here's some more info.
you can see columbia clearly on the chaingaurd, and make it out a little on the tank, but i forgot to mention that the headbadge says TRUSPORT.
is the front drum original? it looks like it's never been replaced.
the tank it a horn tank.
the rear hub is a new departure.

the only reason i picked this up was for the cool springer. my first thought was something cool and stripped down like the JC jalopy in the build off rite now.
if i do build it i'll prolly only keep the frame and fork.
if i do this i'll surely put these other items up for sale or trade here only.

i'll try to post some more detailed pix later.

I don't know much at all about Columbia but I think that Maddogrider does, I know he has a few of them.

Very cool bike with the springer and drum brake, I'd say it doesn't need a rack.
